Neutral and Expressive
Neutral
Neutral speakers communicate calmly, without showing their feelings. They control the amount of emotion they express. Their body language is subdued, and they may not show strong reactions through their tone of voice or gestures, even when they express them verbally. In extremely Neutral environments, children are taught to control their facial expressions to avoid giving away their emotions.
Expressive
Expressive communicators develop and enhance their relationships with other people by sharing their emotions. They show their emotion - in private and public. Their tone of voice varies according to their emotions and they use gestures to illustrate a point. Their body language and facial expressions are easy to read, even from a distance. And they may be loud and dramatic in emotional situations. Highly Expressive people may be emotional in crisis situations, and need to calm down before they can address a problem.
